Electrospinning is a process to produce polymer and composite fibers with diameters ranging from several nanometers to a few micrometers by applying a high voltage to a polymer solution or melt ejected from a micro-syringe pump. The ultrafine fibers produced via electrospinning are assembled as a three-dimensional structured fibrous membrane with controllable pore structure and high specific surface area. Applications of nanofibers include composites reinforcement (bone cement), protein filtration, tissue engineering, drug delivery, bio sensing, smart biomaterials, and energy harvesting biomedical devices. Also by modifying the processing parameters to produce specialized composite fibres, patterned and 3D nanofibers expand the application further into nanoelectronics, nanofluidics, and catalysis.
Journal of Clinical & Experimental Orthopaedics is an open access peer reviewed journal. The journal has initiated its service for the scientific research world since the year 2015. The journal is currently operating with a view to enhance its procurement in the research realms of Orthopaedics and has come forward to publish the special issue entitled, “Electrospun Nanofiber applications for Orthopaedic Implants”.
The journal is glad to welcome submissions for its special issue on Electrospun Nanofiber applications for Orthopaedic Implants. This special issue aims to investigate the electrospun nanofiber application technologies in orthopaedic surgeries. The issue will explore novel electrospinning process (melt, coaxiality, solution, and emulsion), properties and applications of nanofibers, and structure-property relationship of composites made using nanofibers for orthopaedic applications.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Development of functional bio-coating for implant implants (such as bone cement, metal)
- Coating processing techniques for implants
- Mechanical characterization of fiber coated implant
- In vitro and in vivo biocompatibility tests of fiber coated implant
- In vitro and in vivo mechanical performance of fiber coated implant
- Orthopaedic repair; Orthopaedic Regeneration studies; Influence of nanoparticles in Osteoblast
- Osteoclast, and Fibroblast activities, Role of Silver Nanoparticles in Orthopedics
- Antibacterial properties of Orthopaedics nanoparticles, etc.
The Journal follows a stringent double blind peer review process.
We welcome the manuscripts for special issue till 1st March 2018. The submitted manuscripts would be published by 1st April 2018. The special issue would be limited in number & would be processed on a First come First Serve basis, so let us know your interest at the earliest. Open access policy provides free access to manuscripts to all its readers and hence rigors the need for a publication fee. Considering the authors point of view, we stick to publish the manuscripts at a fairly discounted price of 1019 USD.
All the submitted manuscripts undergo thorough review under the stewardship of Dr. Morshed Khandaker, Department of Engineering and Physics, University of Central Oklahoma, USA.
